Mixtape: Birthday Soul

Another Ray Ray Birthday. Another mixtape.

We’re on our fifth installment in this series and I’ve been told this is Ray Ray’s favorite gift. (She actually told me that. Apologies to the rest of you.)

I’m not entirely sure what prompted me to focus on a singular theme this time around – might have been a long discussion we had about Otis Redding and how you could put his music on at any time and it would be appropriate. I almost dare you to try and argue otherwise.

I must confess, though, to being a bit pressed for time on this one. We’re still setting in now that we’re back and the usual job pressures have not let up. Perhaps it was just ease and laziness to stick with one genre, pick some outstanding and eternal music and put it together for the one I love.

So here it is. Enjoy.

As always, you can find this playlist on our Spotify station.

Wilson Pickett – In the Midnight Hour

Otis Redding – Try a Little Tenderness

Aretha Franklin – Chain of Fools

Patrice Rushen – Forget Me Nots

Sam & Dave – Bring It On Home to Me

Etta James – A Sunday Kind of Love

Smokey Robinson – Cruisin’

Marvin Gaye – Got to Give It Up

Al Green – Here I Am

Percy Sledge – When A Man Loves A Woman

Stevie Wonder – Signed Sealed Delivered
