In preparing for our wedding, we assembled little goodie bags for folks, especially those traveling from afar and staying at local hotels. We included the usual – bottles of water, snacks, information of things to do, etc. Taking a cue from other goodie bags in recent years, I decided to compile some tunes encapsulating the event.
That’s right, friends: we have a special edition in our mixtape series! Entitled, “You In or What?”, it is a reference to the Save the Date cards we sent out.
Before we go on, can we take a moment and acknowledge how many layers of complexity and flourishes are on weddings these days? I was in my first wedding back in 1996 and, to date, have attended (as an adult) more than twenty weddings. They have grown in complexity and “add ons.” Just want to put that out there. Not sure why. I just feel it needs to be named.
And of course, I played right into it. Everybody received a mix-CD to take home with them and re-living the amazing weekend we just had here in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
A lot of the tunes are on previous mixtapes. They’ve become some of our favorites in what is quickly becoming the soundtrack of this relationship. We’ve got a few new tracks here and there, key among them, “Life Is Better With You,” and our first dance together at the reception, Ella Fitzgerald handling Cole Porter’s “You’re the Top.”
If you were unable to join us and want a copy, let me know. I have more than a few leftovers and am happy to send you some musical love. As always, you can find this playlist on our Spotify station.
