The title sums it up nicely. This has been a tough year for many of us. On top of any other tribulations and tests the year has thrown our way, we have endured the indignity and frustration of the worst president in modern times, possibly our history. About one-third of the country will vehemently disagree with that, some I even call family members. There’s no law against them being wrong. It’s alright. But in truth, this is a long stretch of rough road in American political history, not for policy and position reasons, but rather simply because of the shameful disgrace that makes up the deficit-of-character of the person currently occupying the office of President of the United States.
Which is why Uncle Mutt hooked you up with some good protest music in here as well. Can’t just complain about things. Sharon Jones, a voice for change if ever there was one, jumps in with a great song of her final album. She passed away about this time last year and it’s a shame we’ll never hear from her again. The Dap-Kings will likely continue but without Sharon, it just won’t be the same. Check them out. Please. I beg of you.
We also threw on a little Benjamin Booker in case you need some extra inspiration to get out on the front lines and resist the vile slowly spreading through our society like rotting wood.
Check out a few tunes to get your feet tapping and booty shaking. KC and the Sunshine Band was inspired from an overseas wedding we hit a few weeks ago. I was one of two people (the other being the DJ) that knew the song. And if the Avalanches tune doesn’t get you up and moving, I don’t know what will.
We close with a nod to Tom Petty because if we opened thinking about one of the greatest tragedies in American history, we should end remembering one of the greatest musical voices in American history.
Here’s to closing out a tough year, and kicking off big and important dreams in the year to come!
